Why am I in the trade?

Looking back it started when I played with Barbie. I would make her furniture from containers that were to be thrown away, using discontinued wallpaper books to jazz up the walls and surfaces, using my Mom's scrap fabric to make pillows and cushions for the furniture that was my creative world back then, and that way of thinking has stuck with me to this day. I was a natural-born repurposer.

By the time I was in 7th grade I had decided to be an Interior designer. I went to college for it and in that brief time I discovered furniture goes beyond the recliner and plaid wingback sofa I was familiar with growing up- it could be works of art!

It was then I decided to switch gears and learn the upholstery trade through an apprenticeship. I wanted to understand how furniture was made and put together, to design my own furniture to create my own beautiful, functional works of art. That was 20+ years ago and I still get excited about the process of taking a piece and transforming it into something spectacular. My experience allows me to upholster to the very highest of standards using the best materials available, and it gives me great pride to offer this quality of craft to my customers.
